M. A. – Yoga

A Master of Arts (M.A.) in Yoga is a specialized academic program that delves into the philosophy, practice, and teachings of yoga, a holistic system originating from ancient India. This advanced degree offers a comprehensive understanding of yoga's principles, techniques, and applications for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The curriculum typically covers a wide range of topics, including the history and philosophy of yoga, yoga anatomy and physiology, yogic psychology, meditation, pranayama (breath control), asanas (postures), and teaching methodologies. Students explore the traditional texts and teachings of yoga, as well as contemporary research and developments in the field. Through experiential learning, self-reflection, and practical teaching opportunities, students deepen their personal yoga practice and develop the skills needed to teach yoga effectively to individuals and groups of varying levels and backgrounds. Additionally, the program often incorporates studies in Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), Sanskrit, and other complementary practices to provide a holistic understanding of health and wellness. Graduates of an M.A. in Yoga may pursue careers as yoga instructors, yoga therapists, wellness coaches, retreat leaders, studio owners, or educators in academic and community settings. They may also choose to further their studies or specialize in specific areas of yoga, such as therapeutic yoga, prenatal yoga, or yoga for special populations. Overall, the program aims to cultivate knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate yoga professionals who can contribute to the health, happiness, and harmony of individuals and communities worldwide.
